Cypriots are not only football mad, but also extremely knowledgeable about the English and world game. While football here is divided by clubs primarily on mainly political lines, football is widely watched and supported passionately.
Many things occur here in Cyprus that were banned in the UK years ago, and the occasional riot is not unheard of, although as per usual, it’s the minority who are responsible.
Limassol, Pafos and Nicosia and Larnaca have large modern stadium and at about €11.97/CY£7.00, watching is not expensive. 5-a-side pitches are everywhere, usually for about £30 per hour for the more active. All the major towns and larger villages have several.

Go-karting is popular. The largest circuits are at Pafos which has the only
bridge and tunnel track, and Larnaca which is a bumpy but fast track. There is also another track at Erimi, 10 miles from Limassol.
Waterparks are great fun and an excellent day out and inexpensive. Fassouri has one of the biggest but there are others around the Island.
Paragliding, jet skis and boats are available on many beaches. It’s law that you must be 18 to hire a jet ski. Charges range from €25.65 for 15 minutes. Boats can be hired for excursions, wedding trips, fishing and just for fun, Pafos harbour being a great setting for that special trip.
There are a number of sports centres and gyms for those looking to keep fit. Lots of the larger hotels have pools with gyms and saunas, but these may be chargeable.

There is a large donkey sanctuary that you can visit where, you will not be surprised to read, donkeys are looked after. This organisation relies on donations and the money you spend there goes towards the running of the sanctuary.
Limassol or Nicosia are good places to visit for a day for any ladies wishing to see a large range of shops with names you will be familiar with. The Old Port area is a maze of narrow streets with shops, bars, cafes. fruit markets and galleries to tempt you.
Museums are plentiful and dotted around the Island with many featured in various guides, many of them free.
