PASSPORT RENEWAL MOVES TO MADRID
Do you need to renew your British passport in Cyprus? The British High Commission in Nicosia advises British Nationals to check the validity of their passports, as emergency travel documents will only be approved in very limited circumstance, and only with evidence of the urgent nature of your request. Passports can be renewed up to 9 months in advance with the extra time being added to the validity period of the new passport.
Since June 1st 2010, the British High Commission in Nicosia are no longer able to issue passports, therefore British Nationals living in Southern Cyprus need to send their applications by courier to the UK Regional Passport Processing Centre in Madrid.
Details of appliction fees, how to pay and courier costs can be found on the British high Commission website www.ukincyprus.fco.gov.uk. For those who visit the High Commission offices with their passport application, the High Commission will forward the applications to Madrid, please note the applicant will be responsible for the courier fees to and from Madrid in addition to the application fees.
