car rental1.bmpBy far the best way to see the Island at your leisure is by car. In the low season rentals can be had for €12.00-€17.00 per day. Obviously this increases during the summer season to around €26.00 for a basic car of about 1000cc. You will want a/c, alternatively consider a jeep style vehicle.
There are a large number of car rental firms to choose from in all the popular holiday locations. The larger companies have internet booking systems and your car will be waiting at your hotel or airport. Booking can be done via the internet prior to travel or on arrival at your destination airport. Most will provide you with a full tank of petrol, so to avoid charges return the vehicle full too. It is also advisable to take out CDW as well.
You can of course book locally at your holiday destination. There are many hire companies to choose from, so shop around for the best deals. Fuel is much cheaper than the UK at around cy£0.50cpl. Check with your rental company if you are thinking of going to the occupied areas.

Motorcycle Hire 

dog biker.jpgMotorcycle hire is available across the island in all the tourist areas. You can usually hire a helmet as well. As with cars, make sure you are covered for all events as not all Cypriot drivers realise bikes exist at all.
Our advice is to wear as much protective clothing as possible to prevent serious skin damage in the event of a fall, and ALWAYS wear a fastened helmet. Wearing one on your elbow as many Cypriot riders do, if they even bother to take one out of the house, is of course useless in the event of a crash.

It is ILLEGAL to ride without a helmet. However strong the temptation because it's hot, for your own safety, wear protective clothes and a helmet.
Rates vary from season to season but will average €20.00-€26.00 per day.
