Cyprus, like many other destinations, has a wide range of hotels and apartment accommodation to suit all budgets and many package tour options are available. Apartments and villas are available to rent direct from the owner others will have agents operating on their behalf. Prices vary so be sure to shop around.
Hotel accommodation in Cyprus, like anywhere, can and does vary. We have experienced some of the range available, from a superb complex with everything included, good food and beer, a spacious yet secluded and gorgeous apartment, to a budget room in a hotel with cheap and cheerful (1970's??? decor and fittings) and average food.
Many hotels are now offering ALL INCLUSIVE deals for the first time. Your travel agent should be able to give you full details. Do be aware that most swimming is not 'depth signed', so please check before entering any pool!!!
The weather is almost guaranteed throughout the year, so good air conditioning is necessary particularly during the summer, as is a nice clean pool if you are in a hotel or a complex, but the sea is perfectly good and there are a number of blue flag beaches around the Island.
Renting villas and apartments for holidays in Cyprus is usually easy and should be hassle free and many of them will offer to get you to their apartment from the airport, you should find your apartment in very good order. Seasonal variations in price do of course exist, but there is a large selection, so shop around. For those looking for an extended stay on the Island, some owners will negotiate better prices.
Since Cyprus joined the EU, VAT is now added to certain properties. Be aware as this tax can massively increase the cost of your new home. Always check to see if your purchase includes VAT in the price, although this will only apply to new builds. Always seek independent legal advice, and buy through a licensed agent.
